A student of Class VII, Anand Krishna Mishra is known as ‘Chota Masterji’ to over 100 students from over 125 villages adjoining his home town Lucknow. He teaches over a 100 students in his regularly organized ‘Bal Choupals’.
Every day at five in the evening, Anand commences his Bal Choupals. The sessions at the Bal Choupal begin with singing ‘Hum Hone Kaamyaab’ (“We shall overcome”) and ends with the National Anthem. Anand not only teaches from the books but also insists on giving lessons on moral studies.
His motivation to do this noble deed is also as filmy as it gets. Once on a trip to Mumbai, Anand witnessed a boy studying under a street lamp; the boy rushed into a temple to get ‘prasad’ and then went back to his books. This moved Anand immensely and he decided to set up Bal Chopals upon reaching Lucknow. Apart from this, Anand is also in the process of setting up local libraries with help of local bodies. For his selfless work at such a tender age, he has won the Satyapath Bal Ratan award and Seva Ratna award. More power to you, Anand!
